the reason I am asking is because someone I know is claiming this but I feel they may be hiding the truth.
There is no reason magnets on a metal cage would kill a rat. Unless the magnets covererd the entire surface of the cage, cutting off all the air, or blocked the rat’s access to the food and water, there’s no way they could harm the rats – they are just small magnets and could never create a magnetic field strong enough to do anything. Unless the rats tried eating or gnawing on the magnets, and the material made them sick, but that’s pretty unlikely.
Whoever told you that is full of poop. Babies are fragile, and might have died no matter how well you took care of them.
