I recommend first of all, do not pick the bird just for the bird, pick it because you know you can take care of it. Some people can afford macaws, but go with parakeets because they are not as much effort to take care of. What I am saying is visit a shop, see the birds and pick one that not only you can care for, both with time, money & love, but also pick it for it’s personality.

I have owned the Peltor H10A Optime 105 Earmuff for 2 years and just bought a second pair for guests in my woodshop. They are easy to adjust to fit and are extremely comfortable; so comfortable that I frequently keep them on when the machines are turned off. They do an excellent job of noise reduction and hearing protection in my woodshop. These earmuffs beat the ones I bought at a local home center that had less noise reduction and only lasted 6 months before the headband snapped in half. The Peltor H10A Optime 105′s are also a great value.

Exactly what I wanted.
My ears are a bit sensitive to high pitched sounds such as carpet steam cleaner, hammering nails, vacuuming, etc. (plus I just think it is important to protect your ears). I didn’t want the type of headphones that require batteries and are noise canceling-too complicated for me. I just wanted a simple type headphone that I could take on and off with out adjusting. I like the fact that it cuts down on high pitched sounds while allowing me to still hear people talking to me. I use these all the time.

We have a couple of parrots and in the evening when they decide to yell, they drive everyone in the house crazy after a while. I ordered a pair of these earmuffs and while we can still faintly hear them, it’s a very big improvement. If you have ever heard a macaw, you know how loud they be. When the birds ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy around here! Their yelling doesn’t normally bother me, but it drives other family members crazy when they get going. The headphones would also be great for things like cutting the lawn, blowing leaves or reading in a noisy room, anything really where you want to save your ears from loud noises.
I can’t believe how comfortable these headphones are. They adjust to fit your head and the foam cushions are really soft and they fit snugly so you can wear them for a long time. Two thumbs up for a great product.

Incredible Hearing Protection
I was absolutely stunned when I put these on for the first time. I’ve used these when mowing the lawn and using power tools and my ears thank me. I even see these in use out on the tarmac when i’m out at the airport and I certainly believe they can drown out a jet engine. They are comfortable for long periods of time too. You can’t put a price on your hearing, but these are an incredible value.
Also if you double up and use these in combination with foam earplugs, I doubt you’d even hear armageddon.

How much are Hyacinth Macaws?
Hi. Well me and my family are getting a bird August 24th. We are about 99% sure that we are getting a double yellow headed amazon. Since we are driving across the country to a bird ranch to make sure we have a healthy happy bird, you can tell that we are very serious about this. We were examining all of our choices for birds, and then when it came to the Hyacinth Macaw, it was $11,000!! Is this unreasonable. Because, all their other prices are VERY reasonable. And they are my dad’s favorite birds so he was pretty dissapointed. So is that price unreasonable, or reasonable?
that is a normal price they can run higher than that even. they are the most expensive macaw you can get. yes they are the prettiest, largest, and generally the nicest but because of those factors and they can be difficult to breed they are very pricey. well it sounds like you have done research on macaws i sure do hope so because they are very difficult to care for, they need constant attention, if they are left home for long periods of time (IE: normal work hours) they will become bored and start to self mutilate. remember birds live in large flocks and need to be apart of the family. also they are very very noisy, and make huge messes. and of course they also live 80-100 years. well i will leave a few links with the more you know about macaws the better. good luck!
