how do i convince my mini macaw not to bite my husband every chance she gets?
i have had her 14 years and married him 10 years ago
That’s strange. Usually parrots prefer the opposite sex. If he is not afraid of the bird I would suggest that he spend more time with her. Your bird may react better if they spend some time alone, maybe she would rather be held by you and if she see’s you she gets upset and bites him? There is also the option of him just not handling the bird.

My mini-macaw just escaped. Will he find his way home with good instincts?
Is he fully flighted? What is the weather like where you are? If he is fully flighted- Has he had good practice flying?
Birds that are fully flighted and are well conditioned for flying great/semi-great distances have a MUCH better chance of finding their way home than birds with little flight skills or who are clipped.
The reaon being that a clipped bird may have taken flight becuase he became startled and landed and is then too scared to fly down becuase he does not know how to fly [well.]
(And yes, there is MUCH more to flying than flapping wings! It’s a learned technique and most companion parrots are clipped very young, before they learn to fly properly!)
Another problem with this is that a clipped bird is very vulnerable to predators.
How well your bird can find his way home will also depend on how much time he’s spent outdoors around the home before this incident; how farmiliar he is with what your home looks like and landmarks nearby.
There are things you can do to encourage him to come down to your home if he is near- Like putting his cage outdoors in the front lawn with food & water in it. Parrots bond to their humans like they would their flock of birds in the wild, so he DOES miss you and DOES want to come home; he just may be lost or not know how!! So don’t give up!
