Why do the Betta males eat the eggs after putting them in the nest?
And in another case he ate the fry before they were free swimming, can somebody explain me this please?
Do breeders deal with this kind of stuff all the time?
I am frustated.
There are a couple of theories as to why male bettas will eat their young/eggs: some breeders blame stress, others poor nutrition, and others genetics. Most breeders have, even if their breeding pairs are always in perfect condition and come from lines that do not have a history of this behavior, encountered an egg-eater. Unfortunately in my experience, males either get the fatherhood thing…or don’t. If after two tries you boy still doesn’t get that those are his babies…not caviar…he probably will ALWAYS eat his fry.
The end point is nothing is more obnoxious than spending weeks preparing the breeding pair, anxiously watching the spawning…and then coming home to a well fed daddy. There is really nothing you can do to prevent it, unless you want to venture into the realm of raising the eggs yourself (something that I would not be very eager to so) you are better off finding another male.

In our own chicken yard, a certain unassertive hen that was last at every thing, one day, discovered a large juicy cricket for her self. She snatched it up in an unaccustomed manner of self assertion and took off, with half a dozen hens in hot pursuit. They where outraged that she would presume to usurp this tasty delight for her self.
Unwilling to release her prize cricket, she flapped and ran until she had sufficient leeway behind a bush to gobble her treat in hasty triumph. After seeing her outwit her colleagues, I felt that perhaps her place at the bottom of the pecking order was not with out its comforts.
