How do i get my leather boots really shiny..?
Due to my job i have to wear heavy leather boots, and im not the best at keeping them shiny!!
i have a boot brush set, do i use the hard bristle brush to put the polish and the soft bristle brush to buff them or is it the other way round?
1. Get a tin of Kiwi shoe polish that matches the color of your boots.
2. Get a shoeshine kit having a dauber and a good horsehair brush.
3. Thoroughly clean the boots.
4. Daub a medium coat of polish on the boots and let it set for 15 minutes.
5. Brush thoroughly.
6. Daub another coat of polish on the boots and let it set for 15 minutes.
7. Brush thoroughly.
8. Take a soft, used T-shirt and make a flattened wad in your hand. Smoothly wipe the boots with the cloth. You should see an enhanced shine from this method.
9. Taking it a step further, get a clean baby diaper, wrap an edge around your two fingers, moisten the cloth, put some polish on it and, using a circular motion, begin at the toes and work back and around the boot. Do the same on the upper leather. Smooth the shine with cross strokes from the diaper.
10. Care must be taken not to catch dirt or dust while in the act of spit-shining; you would have to clean the area thoroughly and start over. When finished, the boots should almost take on the appearance of patent leather.
That is what is called a military spit-shine.
