Bermuda Seed and Weed and Feed Help!!?
I planted 15lbs of bermuda nearly a month ago and have watered nearly everyday since. My problem is that I have so many different kinds of weeds coming in that I can’t tell if the Bermuda is coming thru. Its a new lawn aprox. 90′x60′
I put the bermuda out with scotts starter fertlilizer and I did have several weeds already established but I didn’ think that would matter. I just bought two bags of Hi-Yield Weed and Feed and was wondering if I should put that out or if it will effect the bermuda seed.
What do I need to do to get rid of the weeds and get the beautiful bermuda to come though?
I sprayed a bottle of ortho weed b gone for southern lawns. How soon should I consider putting down more bermuda and how much more?
Ouch, you have an interesting situation. First, lets start out with what you did wrong. First, you always want to eliminate ALL weeds when putting in a new lawn. A few weeks make a ton of seeds, putting your lawn at risk. Besides that, it sounds like you did everything else correctly (starter fertilizer, watering everyday for the first month).
As far as putting more fertilizer on, I would most definately recommend against that. Too much nitrogen in the soil could ruin the bermuda and make the soil uninhabitable until the excess nitrogen leaches out of the soil. You could try a regular liquid weed killer, one that will kill only broadleaf weeds and not grass. I would give that a shot, but make sure that it is formulated to not hurt bermuda. Bermuda is a different grass than fescues and bluegrasses, so you should make shure you know exactly what you are putting onto your grass when applying fertilizers and insecticides.
If that doesn’t work, tear it up and try again. At least you didn’t pay for sod! Check out www.ortho.com for tips, too. Good luck.

Weed killer and Feed and seed?
Can i mix a dry weed and feed lawn product with grass seed in the same application? I haven’t even read the bag yet, it’s out in the barn and its dark out. Any thoughts ? I also just burned off my lawn and I have a nice layer of soggy burned pine straw. What is the best approach.
you can not use weed and feed at the same time as seed you will have to wait four months before you seed because the weed will kill the seed
