Military macaw or Congo African grey?
Hello~
I’m getting another bird soon, and I can’t choose between a CAG and a military macaw. I’ve done my research on both and cost isn’t a problem. I have lots of previous bird experience, but this is going to be my first larger parrot. So, which is a “better” bird- CAG or a militay macaw?
when I speak to people who know of the care a bird requires and I feel I can honestly feel comfortable with them being owned by a parrot, the I always say the same thing… let the bird decide if he likes you.
shop around. meet a lot of greys and a lot of macaws. they are different birds. grey’s are often more vocal in the talking sence whereas macaws are LOUDER 
both can be so sweet or down right cranky. both are a joy to have around. greys are more subtle in a sense while Macaws are that kid in the grocery store yelling “LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME!”
However, from my experience i will forever be sold on the military macaw. A military was the first bird i bonded with and that bird will be a part of me forever. She had an attitude the size of the grand canyon with most people but she was a kitten with me. She chose me, I didn’t choose her. She harldy ever spoke a word. Unfortunatly she did not belong to me and I had no money to be able to buy her and take care of her so we parted ways years ago. she found a great home, btw, so I can’t be too upset.
Let the bird choose you. You’ll know the right bird when the time comes.
