More so, old logs begun to be discovered, reclining in river beds. This wood was not just antique in style and extent but was also found to be extremely durable, stable and hard in texture. This is exactly what attracted a large number of designers and architects towards it. Furthermore, its quality was boosted by the fact that it was a tremendously viable alternative!
Why should such flooring be used?
The two factors that contribute to strengthen the feasibility of this wood are-
Eco-friendliness – No forests or trees are cut down to obtain this wood. It is simply acquired from long standing buildings or river beds
Cost – The cost of using reclaimed flooring does not cause enormous holes in your pocket! It is much stronger and cheaper
All of these factors hold good today. Currently, reclaimed wood is being extensively used for the purposes of flooring, paneling, siding and making furniture.
Does it have a negative side?
Generally, it doesn’t. However, before one opts for recycled wood flooring, one must always bear in mind the potential problems which may arise-
1) Keep an eye for pits and holes which might have been dug in by bugs
2) Check the wood for warps and signs of discoloration
Ranging from Chestnut to pine and from heartwood to teak, recycled wood has indeed made its mark in the industry. Lending one’s house that Midas touch has now become simpler with Reclaimed flooring!
